We are very excited to announce that an independent, grassroots organization is taking one of our '5 Big Ideas' and working to make it a reality.  
 
For over two years, the SC New Democrats have been advocating a state constitutional amendment to change the 'minimally adequate' standard for education to 'top quality, world class.'
 
And now it is happening.
 
Bud Ferrillo and the good folks that produced the "Corridor of Shame' documentary have now launch a non-partisan petition drive in support of this idea.
 
SC New Democrats believe that education is the key to our long-term success. If we don't fix our education system, nothing else matters.  
 
So, please sign the petition below and show your support for creating a better South Carolina and thank you for your continued support of SC New Democrats' programs!

Goodbye Minimally Adequate!

 
Now South Carolinians can take action on behalf of our state public school system. By signing the petition, you can join other South Carolinians in support of inserting "a high quality education, allowing each student to reach his highest potential" into our state constitution.  This new language will replace South Carolina's current state standard of "a minimally adequate education."

Legislation to change the state constitution must be passed by a 2/3rds vote of the Senate and House of Representatives in order to put the amendment on the general election ballot for public vote in November, 2010. Join us today. Sign the petition!
